I attended Statesville City Schools and graduated from Statesville Senior High School in 1963.  I attended the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and graduated with a degree in economics in 1967.  I served in the United States Army with the 2nd Infantry Division in the DMZ of Korea in 1968 and 1969.  I attended the University of North Carolina Law School in Chapel Hill on the G.I. Bill and graduated in 1972.  Immediately after graduating,  I was licensed to practice law and did so in Graham, NC for 3 years.  I have had a general trial practice in Statesville, NC since returning home in 1975. I served as the 22nd Judicial District Bar Councilor for nine years (representing Alexander and Iredell Counties). With regard to the North Carolina State Bar Association, I am the past chairman of the LAMP Committee (Legal Assistance to Military Personnel Committee).

I am a native of Hiddenite North Carolina where I still live on a farm that has been in my family since the 18th century. I grew up doing farm chores and still enjoy working and hunting in the outdoors. I graduated from West Iredell High School in 2003. I earned my private pilot license in 2002 when I was 18 years old and have been an aviation enthusiast since that time. After graduation I attended Mendenhall School of Auctioneering and earned my Auctioneers License in 2003. I eventually settled in to work with a local heating, air conditioning, and plumbing company. I started out as a helper and worked my way up to a retail sales professional and job coordinator. I have been a member of Rocky Hill Church since 2005. I married my wife Jessica in 2007 and decided to further my education in 2009. I graduated summa cum laude from Liberty University in Lynchburg Virginia in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Religion. I continued my education at Liberty University School of Law and graduated Juris Doctor, May 2015. My focus in law school was on business transaction law and business planning. I am proud to serve my neighbors here in Iredell and surrounding counties with Benbow and Martin, P.C.

While I grew up all over the east coast, my family settled down long enough for me to graduate from Heritage Academy in Braselton, Georgia in 2011. After leaving Georgia, I attended Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia and received my major in 2015 in Western Legal Theory, while triple minoring in economics, politics and policy, and English. I then took a year off school to teach English to Korean businessmen and women, until deciding the legal field was where I wanted to build my career. I graduated from Liberty University’s legal program in 2019 and passed the bar in September of 2019. My focus during law school was in Intellectual Property and Business Law. As an even greater accomplishment than passing the bar and becoming licensed in North Carolina, I married my 5-year sweetheart on August 4, 2019. We both love coffee, reading, watching cooking shows, and spending time together. I look forward to serving this community together with David and Luke at Benbow and Martin, P.C.
